Last year a dear friend of mine tragically lost a child to cancer. During December she told her friends and family that what she most wanted for Christmas was for her son’s memory to be honored by acts of kindness. In response to that request, I applied to be considered as a volunteer photographer for Magic Hour – a national network of professional photographers who look to serve individuals and families fighting cancer. I’ve just been notified that my application has been accepted. I’m so honored and grateful for the opportunity to work with this amazing organization.
Magic hour’s mission is to coordinate a photo session to celebrate the truly important things in life through photography. These charitable portrait sessions provide an opportunity for families to feel special and strong while they enjoy time with loved ones. Above all, Magic Hour strives to express compassion and love as we support them, no matter the outcome of their battle.
I’m excited and also nervous to be a part of this mission. It is close to my heart and I hope and pray that I can offer families photos that will give them joy during an impossibly difficult time in their lives.
If you are a photographer who is interested in volunteering, or if you know someone who might benefit from a Magic Hour session, I encourage you to visit their website to learn more.
